About Us – (from 2013)

Hi there!  My name is Ryan (and that’s my black lab – Shadow).

A little about me –  I’m a 25 year old college graduate, with a double-major in Creative Writing and Spanish.  After college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life.  I found a full-time job working at an adventure park, where I was Assistant Manager for a year.

After about a year and a half, I found myself without a job.  I wanted to take this opportunity to pack up some essentials and head out West.  I have always dreamed of being able to take a cross-country road trip, but had always had obligations that I couldn’t just get up and leave (high school, then college, then a full-time job).  So what better time than now?  Join me as I travel across the country with my girlfriend Molly, in a 1997 Honda Civic.  Should be a fun ride!

Helloooo world! My name is Molly and the above is my awesome boyfriend.  I am 23 years old (BDAY is 12/13 if you want to send cards/presents). I have a bachelor’s degree in biology from Georgia State University but I feel it’s not my calling anymore. I enjoy being outdoors (with ample bug protection ‘cause I am loved by mosquitoes EVERYWHERE). In order to do this trip, I left my job at a local dermatology clinic (not my calling either).  I hope to find new and exciting things to do with my life while on this trip! Hope you guys are ready to trek along this epic adventure including meeting new friends, pooping in nature, eating wild animals?, getting lost, and enjoying life!

  1. I applaud you two for taking on this trip and documenting it. I feel like a lot of people our age struggle to find our calling or find out belatedly after graduating that what we studied isn’t necessarily what we want to do with our lives. And by you two going on this trip, I feel like you guys are telling people that it’s ok to not have a solid road map. Enjoying life and not taking little moments for granted are important. Looking forward to following your adventures on this trip.

    1. Thank you Reera – you said it better than we could have. It really is crazy to think that we are actually doing this, after so much day-dreaming and half-thought plans. We are “going with the flow”, so-to-speak. Which in some ways can lend itself to be bad, but also can open you up to experience things that you wouldn’t otherwise have taken the time to slow down and enjoy.
