Garage Remodel

Garage Remodel

My grandfather built these shelves for storage and organization.  Unfortunately, this entire wall was not insulated, and you could definitely tell.

I started by removing the clutter and knocking down the shelves.

Insulation is up – next is the drywall!

There were some areas with termite damage, so I prepared to do some drywall work.

Drywall is definitely not my strong suit…

Good thing it’s just a garage, because my taping / mudding skills are definitely lacking.

Another fun area next to the breaker box.  There was termite damage from the mid-1980’s that I wanted to repair (luckily the actual termites have been gone since the 1980’s, too!)

During the same time, I decided to epoxy the garage floor with some of the blue garage paint / epoxy.

You have to clean, degrease, and then use an etching compound on the floor.  It’s not difficult, but very tedious.  Removing 35 years of grime is not a quick task!

Randy and Jill – 1982.  How cool!

The epoxy is down!!  If I wasn’t on a tight deadline, I would have used some crack-filler in those cracks, too.  The house’s foundation has shifted since 1982.

First coat of paint is up!

Baseboard and crown molding are up! (I used crown molding in the garage because the drywall tape that forms the edge between the ceiling / wall was peeling – out of sight, out of mind!)

Can’t have a garage without a good work-bench. This project is finished!
